The Council on Social Work Education Now Is The Time: Minority Fellowship Program-Youth for Master's Students is designed to enhance the training of full-time, direct-practice focused, master's social work students in the final year of study at a CSWE-accredited program. Fellows must identify mental health service delivery to at-risk children, adolescents, and/or transition age youth (16-25) as their specialization and be committed to seeking employment in a behavioral health setting with this target population after graduation.

CSWE Minority Fellowship

The purpose of this fellowship is to provide opportunities for continuing generations of able and accomplished New Americans to achieve leadership in their chosen fields. Grants are awarded to New Americans who are individuals who (1) hold a Green Card (2) have been naturalized as a U.S. citizen or (3) are the children of 2 parents who are both naturalized citizens. Candidates must demonstrate the relevance of graduate education to their long-term career goals and potential in enhancing their contributions to society.

Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships For New Americans

The Kosciuszko Foundation provides tuition scholarships for U.S. citizens of Polish descent to be used for graduate studies in any field at colleges and universities in the U.S. and to Americans of non-Polish descent whose studies at American universities are primarily focused on Polish subjects.

National Italian American Foundation

This scholarship was created to help men and women in need of financial aid to further their education. The principal focus of The Fund is its Scholarships Program, through which it makes grants for undergraduate or graduate study at accredited colleges or universities. Scholarships may only be applied to study at an accredited institution based in the United States. The Fund seeks candidates who are "motivated by spiritual values," and works to foster fellowship among them.

The Roothbert Fund, Inc. Scholarships

The Foundation grants approximately 200 individual awards each year to both full time undergraduate students enrolled in four year bachelor programs and to full time graduate students. High school seniors are eligible to apply in high school for their first year in college. These fellowships are intended to encourage research that will improve the general welfare of mankind. Because funds for such grants are limited, interested applicants should inquire as to the availability of funding for fellowships in their chosen field of study.

The Mental Health/Substance Abuse Fellowship Program (MHSAFP), funded by The substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA),  is designed for doctoral social work students, with a social work master’s degree, who are preparing for a leadership role in the mental health and/or substance abuse field in the area of practice, community consulting/training, policy development, administration, teaching, or research/evaluation with underrepresented communities. Applicants are expected to show an interest in and commitment to a career in mental health and/or substance abuse with specialization in the delivery of services to ethnic and racial minority groups. The number of fellowships available each year will depend on the number of current fellows that have either completed their degree or received the maximum years of fellowship eligibility (3 years based on availability of funding).

Applicants for the fellowship should carefully follow the application instruction sheet and focus attention on documenting the following in their application:

How their substantive/specialty area of interest relates to one or more of SAMHSA’s strategic initiatives with a specific focus on disparities in services to ethnic and racial minority groups related to prevention, treatment or recovery from mental health and/or substance abuse issues.
