Eryca Kasse
Eryca Kasse, MSW, LICSW is a clinical social worker in Washington, DC with a background in mental health, substance use and addiction. She received her BSW from George Mason University in 1998 with a focus in her early career on social work with youth in high-risk situations; runaway, homeless, LGBTQ & court involved. She received her MSW from Howard University in 2010 where she completed field placements with women returning home from prison & jail, and adults living with mental illness & addiction experiencing homelessness. Her post-graduate work has focused on clinical social work with adults living with co-occurring mental health & substance use disorders at community mental health centers, addiction treatment programs & hospitals; providing diagnostic assessments, individual & group therapy and crisis intervention. In 2016 she launched her consulting practice CHOICES in Healing & Recovery, which provides clinical supervision, CEU trainings and workshops for people in recovery focused on trauma informed care in behavioral health.
Description
Gain concrete understanding of Substance Use Disorder diagnoses to provide appropriate treatment referrals coinciding with client centered stage of change and recovery journey.
This training provides an introduction and overview of Substance Use Disorders. We will
explore the 10 different classes of substances and their effects outlined in the DSM 5; and
the specific criteria for a diagnosis of Substance Use Disorder (Mild, Moderate or
Severe). The available levels of care along with the varied continuum of treatment
modalities will be presented. Case examples will be provided for small group discussion,
to provide opportunities to assess mock clients for diagnosis and referrals to appropriate
levels of care.

Continuing Education Credit Hours
This organization (NCSSS, ACE#1424) is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Board (ASWB) www.aswb.org through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) Program. The (NCSSS) maintains responsibility for the program. ASWB Approval period: ( 2/2/2020-2/2/2023) . Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval for continuing education credits. Social workers participating in this course will receive (3.0) Continuing Education clock hours.
