NCSSS co-sponsored an event with Campus Ministry during Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week to showcase the Ford Scholars Program and elevate awareness around the state of homelessness in Washington, DC. The panel brought together Ford Scholars, partners from DC Housing Services, and individuals with lived experience together to share their experiences and shed light on the ongoing housing crisis affecting communities across the District. Led by Margaret Dominguez, LICSW, Ford Scholars Field Liaison, this panel offered a unique opportunity for members of the university community to hear about ways to get involved and respond to DC’s growing housing crisis.
The Ford Scholars Program supports NCSSS students who are committed to providing clinical behavioral health services to individuals experiencing homelessness in Washington, DC. Through direct practice, research, and advocacy, our Ford Scholars provide crucial community services through their field placements while receiving specialized training in their field seminar. By partnering with Campus Ministry for this awareness week event, NCSSS helped connect the spirit of service at the heart of Catholic University's mission with the urgent realities facing thousands of DC residents.
