Kynai Johnson
Kynai Johnson currently serves as the Deputy Director for the Educational Enhancement Department of the Latin American Youth Center. In this role, Kynai works to promote academic support along with sociocultural enrichment to youth within our communities. Additionally, Kynai is a facilitator, specializing in Positive Youth Development, Race Equity, and LGBTQ Ally trainings. Prior to serving at LAYC, Kynai was a Bilingual Victim Advocate for the State Attorney’s Office. Kynai has a B.A. from Washington and Lee University in Spanish and Communications, and an MSW from the Catholic University of America, and an LICSW. Kynai is currently in her third year of doctoral studies at the Catholic University of America.
Description
This training explores the intersectionalities of dimensions of difference. Moreover, by recognizing the complexity of identities, participants will consider how they can positively affect the creation of safe spaces within their agencies. The specific dimensions of difference in this workshop to be explored will include (1) race and ethnicity, and (2) sexual orientation/gender identity and expression.

Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Reflect upon and discuss their own sociopolitical relationship to privilege and oppression
- Identify evidence of institutionalized oppression within agency settings
- Define concrete examples of sphere of influence, including abilities to promote safe and affirming spaces within an agency context

Continuing Education Credit Hours
This organization (NCSSS, ACE#1424) is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Board (ASWB) www.aswb.org through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) Program. The (NCSSS) maintains responsibility for the program. ASWB Approval period: (2.2.17 to 2.2.20). Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval for continuing education credits. Social workers participating in this course will receive (3.0) Continuing Education clock hours.
All participants will receive Continuing Education Credit Hours Certificates in hand following completion of the workshop and the course evaluation. Participants must attend the complete workshop in person.
